Artificial Intelligence is a tool, a well-informed assistant, but certainly not a replacement for your work, in my opinion. It’s great at sparking ideas and even at writing basic copy. And, as you know it can write full 1500-word essays, blog posts, 30,000-word eBooks, and even a full 55,000-word Novel if prompted to do so. However… You will never see 100%, or even 25-50% AI-generated text here on this website…
ALL of the text you read on this site will have been originally generated / typed / dictated (whatever) by me. With one exception… Sometimes I will use AI to gather things like: music gear specifications, historical dates and times, and similar data; however, that data will be verified before posting. Any and EVERY time I use AI it will be annotated somewhere on that page your are reading and will probably contain a link back to this page for further transparency.
Any post that contains gear specifications will probably have one of my YouTube videos embedded into it, so the harder work of creating the video for that piece of gear will have been done by me, as well as my own personal views in the beginning and possibly at the end of the blog post article.
Sure, at times, I might consider using AI in my YouTube videos as well, but it would only be for a few short B-roll clips and will probably be quite obvious. i.e., I will NEVER attempt to fool anyone on anything in my videos, or in my blog posts.
One place where I will probably use AI visuals regularly will be in the Daily Pulse post category of this website, simply because this area is meant to be for quick, daily thoughts and AI makes creating the featured image part rather quick and easy. I wanted to leave off the featured image of these posts so the focus could be on the wrtitten element; however, doing so, at present, causes some inconsistencies that I’m just not fond of.
If I’m being perfectly honest, it’s kind of fun using AI to generate these quite basic images. I’m saying, “basic,” because if you took look at the prompt, there isn’t much there. And this, again, is on purpose because I don’t want to spend a lot of time on these particular posts. That would go against the whole idea behind this section / category of my website – to get the thought out and move on…
Whenever, I can use my own imagery, I will. All OTHER POST IMAGES ARE OF MY OWN TAKING… I try to mention where each blog post featured image comes from at the bottom of each post.
One other reason I do not mind so, so much about using AI (for imagery) is that I don’t think AI is going anywhere, and therefore want to have, at least, played around with it in-order-to have (some) idea of how it works…
The “stealing of other people’s work” is a WHOLE OTHER CONCEPT that I hope to cover some time in the future. For now, I’ll say that, sure… In a way, it is most definitely stealing. And stealing at scale. Then, on the other hand, there’s the argument, “Yes, but this new piece of content wouldn’t exist without this other person’s prompt.”
As of the writing of this disclosure statement, the Federal copyright office still does not grant copyrights for content 100% generated by, or significantly assisted by, Artificial Intelligence. If that tells us anything, It tells us that if a piece of content is incapable of receiving a copyright from the federal copyright office, then that content must not be considered original. And yet, all of these LLMs, and other similar type AI tools still exist…
